Vernon Floyd Yancey, 66, of Sycamore passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, GA.
Vernon was born on August 10, 1955 in Tifton to the late Herman and Pat Yancey and Barbara Mallard Roberts. He was the owner and operator of Sycamore Fence Company and retired head mechanic at Shaw Industries. Vernon was of Baptist faith. He loved spending time with his family and going on camping trips and cruises. He enjoyed watching Western movies.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Yancey of Sycamore; son, Chad Yancey of Denver, Colorado; daughters, Joyce (Billy) Caton of Sycamore and Patricia (Levi) Douglas of Norman Park; sister, Diana (Dale) Rutledge of Washington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, and Edward Douglas of Norman Park, Cassidy (Adam) Peavy of Ashburn, Kelsey Caton of Sparks, and Kinley Caton of Sycamore; great-grandchildren, Anna Douglas of Norman Park and Liam Peavy of Ashburn; and long-time best friends, Gary and Tina Brewer of Tifton.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Derrick Yancey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 27, 2022, at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie immediately following the service. The family will greet friends on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 2-4PM at Perry Funeral Chapel.
