Sue Ellen Reeves Speight

Sue Ellen Reeves Speight, 84, of Ashburn passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Sue was born at home on January 24, 1941 to the late Basil Kyle Reeves and Florrie White Reeves. In her youth, she was a good basketball player, and loved animals. As an adult, she enjoyed sewing and made baby blankets for her family. She also knew the art of setting a beautiful table. She liked to draw and paint and she loved to play scrabble and dominoes. Her love of animals continued, especially in her faithful dog, Luna. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, and she was often found cheering for her grandsons at all of their sporting events. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her sons, Doug Ellis (April) and Mark Ellis (Cristi); grandsons, Alex Ellis (Renee) and John Connor Ellis; great-grandson, Owen Dean Ellis; sister-in-law, Corinne Reeves. She also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews, Sean, Rebecca, Carol, Jeannie, David, Patty, Tom, Andy, Beth, Pete.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Speight and brothers Kyle Reeves (Earline), Benny Reeves (Ann), and Tommy Reeves.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rebecca. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.
