Ruth Ellen Duckworth Evans

Ruth Ellen Duckworth Evans, 86, of Ashburn passed away Friday, August 14, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born on December 11, 1939 to the late James and Ilah Duckworth in Hayesville, North Carolina.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and woman of faith who cherished her girls, Tommie Ruth and Trish, and her beloved husband, Tommy, above all else. A longtime resident of Ashburn, she called the community home for more than 60 years. She worked at Ashburn Bank and later was a faithful partner in her husband’s business, Evans Flying Service, where she served as secretary and was a tremendous source of support for many years. She found joy in drawing and was very artistic. She loved visiting the race track and cheering for her favorite racecar drivers. She especially enjoyed driving her beloved Mustang. A woman of Baptist faith, she attended Trinity Baptist Church for many years and will be remembered for her love, strength, and devotion to her family.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Tommie Ruth Evans (Brian) Meadows of Rock Spring, GA and Patricia "Trish" Evans (David) Mathes of Ashburn, GA and their children, Derek White of Lafayette,GA, Ryan (Nadia) White of Kyle, TX, Matt (Savannah) White of Lakeland, GA, and Justin (Niki) Moore of Tifton, GA. Ruth leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Jace Moore, Addy Moore, Maddy Moore, Tinsley Hilton, Marshal Turner, and Kinsley White. She is survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly as well.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy C. Evans and her siblings, James C. Duckworth, Jr., Francis Virginia Duckworth, Della Mae Glosson, Johnnie Duckworth, Beatrice Duckworth, Jack Duckworth, Ed Duckworth, Audrey Anderson, and Shelly Jean Duckworth.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends at the home of Trish and David Mathes (129 Lake Estate Dr. Ashburn, GA) from 5:00-9:00PM on Saturday, August 15, 2026 and immediately following the service at Perry Funeral Chapel on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
