Ray Cox

Ray Cox, 80, of Ashburn passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital.

Ray was born on April 5, 1945 in Worth County to the late Aaron Jefferson and Myrtie Powell Cox. He was a retired owner and operator of Ray Cox Trucking, Inc. and a member of New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. Ray was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed farming and grew a large vegetable garden every year. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Above everything, Ray loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Brenda Cox of Ashburn; daughters, Robin (Dino) McGinnis of Cordele and Vicky (Stacy) Keen of Ashburn; son, Kevin (Pam) Cox of Sycamore; brother, Reggie Cox of Sylvester; sister-in-law, Lydia Cox of Ashburn; brother-in-law, Rufus Powell of Sylvester; grandchildren, Ellis (Kim) Keen, Amanda (Matt) Neisent, Kelly (Balin) Webb; Brooke (Sumner) McWhorter and Camden Cox. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild expected in March, 2026.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Virginia Powell, Carolyn Douglas and Gordon Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Worth County. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
