Patrica “Pat/Mamama” Lumpkin Rainey, 85, was embraced by her Savior on December 13th, 2025, surrounded by her family. Pat was a faithful Christian, devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Pat was born August 10th,1940 to Joseph Herbert and Lonel Anderson Lumpkin in Turner County. She grew up in a close-knit family of 8 siblings. Pat was in the first graduating class of Turner County High School. She was proud to share her involvement in selecting the school motto and colors. After graduation, she attended South Georgia Trade and Vocational School in Americus, Georgia. She studied Business Education, served on the yearbook staff, and was a cheerleader.
Pat married David Charles Rainey in 1963 and had two children, Benjamin David Rainey and Mary Rainey Parker. She was a devoted wife for 45 years. Pat worked in Child Protective Services for the Department of Family and Children Services of Turner and Tift counties. She applied her faith to her career, making sacrifices to assure the safety of the less fortunate.
Pat’s life was motivated by her Christian faith. She had a passion for people and developing relationships. She had a gift for loving, supporting, and seeing the good and potential in everyone. Not only was she compassionate, humble, and understanding, she was also adventurous, jovial, and full of spunk. Pat loved to sit on her porch drinking coffee with her friends, talking about old times and new. She loved playing games and fishing with her brothers and sisters. Pat was never afraid to laugh and be silly with her family, nor was she afraid to go on adventures with those she loved, unworried of the destination but rather enjoying the memories made on the journey.
Pat so enjoyed serving in her church, First Baptist of Ashburn. She attended the Happy Sunday school class, served on the finance committee, and visitation team. Her passion to serve others and share Christ led her to cofound a jail ministry: sharing Christ with incarcerated women in Turner County jail.
She prayed over every milestone, trusted God through every challenge, and taught others to lean on faith in all seasons of life. Her home was a place of welcome, where love was abundant and God’s presence was always felt. She lived by the words of Scripture, striving to love others as Christ loved her. Her legacy of faith, compassion, and humility will continue to guide generations to come. She is survived by her loving brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who were blessed to know her. Though we mourn, we do not grieve without hope, for we trust that she now rests in the loving arms of her Savior.
She boldly lived by (Matthew 25:35-36) MSG: “I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
