Lloyd Gerald “Jerry” Wooten, 80, of Ashburn passed away Monday, August 25, 2025.
Police officer, Chief of Police, EMT, paramedic, mailman. If there was a public service job to be found, Wooten would do it. He loved getting out and talking with people any time he could. When he wasn’t working he loved hunting, scalloping, and catching speckled trout and redfish at Keaton Beach and Louisiana.
His family came first in everything He was a beloved husband, daddy, papa, and Big Papa. He sat through countless horse shows, football games, little league games, softball games, chorus concerts, and soccer matches. When he wasn’t officially coaching he was coaching from the sidelines.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy; his daughter Lori and son Lloyd; grandchildren Seth and Kayla Wooten, Kylie and Austin Martin;, and Phoebe and Harrison Law; great grandchildren Connor Wooten and Hudson Martin; brothers Ray Wooten, Bobby Wooten, and Randy Davis; sisters Lisa Harrell, Gail Mosley, and Debi Goin; daughter in law Angel Wooten; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, including his beloved double first cousin Jeannie Fielder.
Per Wooten’s request, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date
