Katie Ruth Kerce Holland was born on October 28, 1932, in Tifton, Georgia.
She was married in 1950 to Bobby Holland, a Turner County farmer until his death in 2011. They made their home in Ashburn and Turner County, Georgia.
She was the daughter of Katie Hutchinson Kerce and Howard Prentice Kerce. She lived in Worth County during her early childhood and lived most of her life in Ashburn and Turner County, Georgia. She was the granddaughter of Sally and Lee Kerce of Worth County, Georgia, and Laura and John Henry Hutchinson of Tift County, Georgia.
She is survived by her son Ray Holland, and his wife Marion, of Sycamore, Georgia, her son John Holland, and his wife Eva Lynn, of Ashburn, Georgia, her granddaughter Elizabeth Holland of Savannah, Georgia, and several special nieces and nephews.
She attended elementary school in Warwick, Georgia and graduated from Sycamore High School. During her high school years, she won several beauty contests including being named as Georgia Tobacco Queen. She also attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton following High School.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ashburn, Georgia. She gave many years of dedicated service to the members of First Baptist Church coordinating special events decorations for the Church, for holidays and other special occasions, and particularly the Christmas season.
She was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed home decorating and collecting furniture, crystal and china. She was an outstanding cook, and she authored a cookbook of family recipes in 2015. The proceeds of the cookbook went to the First Baptist Church. And, throughout the years, she was always actively involved in all parts of the school and professional activities of John, Ray, and Elizabeth, and with her daughters-in-law, Eva Lynn and Marion.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mrs. Holland's dedicated caregivers, Katherine Brown and Linda Vaughn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Ashburn First Baptist Church.
