John Thomas Sanders, Jr.

John T. Sanders, Jr. (just “Jr.” to those that knew him), 91 of Rebecca passed away May 10, 2026 at Pruitt Healthcare in Ashburn.

Jr. was born in Crisp County on January 27, 1935 to the late John T. Sanders, Sr. and Jessie Lee Sanders. He was a retired truck driver. Even when his mind started to fail him these past couple of years, he could still remember every truck driving story. His favorite title, however, was Papa to his “baby dolls” - Braelynn, Addi and Chloe- who will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Glenda W. Sanders of Rebecca; daughters, Teresa Earnest, Tina (Tony) Lewis of Rebecca and Shelia Stokes of Cordele; sons, David Sanders and Billy Mike Sanders of Cordele; daughter-in-law, Jo Sanders of Cordele; brother-in-law, Michael Wilkerson of Rebecca; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Andrew) Cameron, Lindsey (Chandler) Earnest, Chelsey Thomas, Alexander Lewis, Melinda (Miles) Platt, Heather Sanders, Darrell Sanders, Kevin Stokes, Stephanie Pate, Traci Sanders, Scott (LaEl) Sanders, Travis Sanders and Tre (Yoana) Sanders. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Tony Sanders, Jerry Sanders and Ricky Sanders; brothers, Wendell Sanders and Carl Sanders; sister, Viola S. Maddox.

His memorial service will be held at a later date.
