Henry Allen Murray

Henry Allen Murray, 77, of Ashburn passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at his daughter’s home in Perry.


Allen was born on June 22, 1946 in Pavo to the late Robert Jarrell and Janie Darby Murray. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. He also served his country with honor in the United States Navy and the United States Marines. While in the Navy he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Operations Insignia and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Allen loved being outside. He enjoyed taking care of his yard by mowing and raking pine straw. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Allen also collected coins. He enjoyed fixing things as well.


He is survived by his daughter, Karen Murray Wynn of Perry; son, Chad Allen Murray; sister, Donna Murray of Sylvester; grandchildren, Noah Wynn and Jonah Wynn. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Marsha Deese who was instrumental in helping provide care for him throughout his illness.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristy Murray Young and a brother, William “Bobby” Murray.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
