Hazel Rice Summerall, 92, of Sycamore passed away Friday, June 26, 2026 at Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Hazel was born on April 6, 1934 in Irwin County to the late Jesse Daniel and Annie Dukes Tucker. She was the City Clerk for Sycamore for many years. Hazel was an avid gardener and bird watcher. She could be found on her back porch most days enjoying God’s creation. She had a love for traveling as well. She was happy to tell anyone that she had visited all 50 states! Hazel was an amazing cook and found joy in being in the kitchen with her kids and grandkids. She was a joyful soul who never let anything get her down for long. Her source of joy and hope was found in her unwavering relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church where she attended and served faithfully for many years until her health declined. Above all, Hazel loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Bruce) Free of Sycamore; son, Mike (Sheila) Rice of Ashburn; step-son, Glenn Summerall of Cullman, Alabama; sisters, Faye (Wayne) Mencer of Perry and Ruth Roberts of Ashburn; brother, David “Shorty” Tucker of Brookfield; grandchildren, Chris (Misty) Free, Amanda (Colby) Chung, Jessi (Josh) White, Jake (Sumer) Rice, Noelle Sims and Melody Teague. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren with one to be born later this year and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Carl Rice; second husband, Ken Summerall; daughter, Diane Rice and five siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Sycamore Baptist Church. A private interment will follow. The family will greet friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Sycamore Baptist Church.
