Hazel Cleghorn Bell

Hazel Cleghorn Bell passed away May 5, 2023 at the age of 96 at Cypress Pond Assisted Living Facility.

Hazel was born in Sycamore, GA on May 18, 1926 to Rufus Collie and Flossie Mae Cleghorn.  She spent her entire life in Turner County.  She was married to S. W. Bell, Jr. and was a farm wife and partner to him for over 50 years where they had a successful farming operation.  She loved cooking, visiting with family, gardening, and often hosted big family gatherings at her country home around the holidays and special events.  She was an excellent cook and seamstress.  She enjoyed many years of her life in Bell’s Daylily Garden which she loved.  She was a life long member of Bethel Baptist Church.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and five siblings, Melvin Cleghorn, Milton Cleghorn, Bertie Kendrick, Mae Bellflower, and Mildred Bullington; and great-grandson, Ethan James Crawford.

She is survived by her children, Wayne and Kathryn Bell of Valdosta, GA, Cheryl and Scott Wynn of Sycamore, GA, Susan and Mike Floyd of Watkinsville, GA, Tim and Linda Bell of Sycamore, GA and Tony and Gina Bell of Coral Springs, FL; thirteen grandchildren, Andrea Bell of Cumming, GA, Emily Bell of Dothan, AL, Sarah and Chris Crawford of Sycamore, GA, Rebecca and Alex Sconyers of Kathleen, GA, Andrew and Natalie Floyd of DeLand, FL, Stephen and Holly Floyd of Marietta, GA, Jessica Bell of Sycamore, GA, Rachel and Mikell Gibbs of Ashburn, GA, Jared Bell of Sycamore, GA, Samuel Bell, Daniel Bell, Anthony Bell, and Abi Bell of Coral Springs, FL; sister-in-law, Louise Cleghorn.  She is also survived by thirteen great-grand children and a large number of nieces and nephews from the Bell and Cleghorn families which she dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Perry Funeral Chapel with Dr. Andrew Floyd officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of services at the funeral home.
