George E. Reinhardt, born on August 27, 1962, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, in Ashburn.
George was a proud graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, where he developed the skills that would define his career. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer, dedicated to serving his community with compassion and integrity. He was also a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia.
As the owner and operator of Sandman Engraving, George, affectionately known as “Sandman” to his colleagues, showcased his craftsmanship and skill in engraving. His work extended beyond personal accomplishments; he served several funeral homes in South Georgia, where he carved death dates and epitaphs on monument work, creating lasting tributes for many families during their times of grief.
In addition to his professional pursuits, George actively participated with the Kairos Prison Ministry, providing support and guidance to those in need. His commitment to helping others extended to his military service, as he honorably served in the United States Army, becoming a member of the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division.
George is survived by his mother, Charnelle Reinhardt of Ashburn; daughter, Mary (Stephen) Friend of Brunswick; son, Garrett Eli Reinhardt of Valdosta; sister, Michelle (Jerry) Story of Sycamore; brother, Floyd (Nikki) Reinhardt of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his companion, his dog, Amboy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Guy Reinhardt and his dog, Shiloh.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Ashburn First Baptist Church. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Ashburn First Baptist Church.
