Gene McNair

Gene McNair, 91, of Ashburn passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 at his home.

Gene was born on June 9, 1931 in Turner County to the late Robert Lee and Evie Eubanks McNair. He was a self-employed farmer all of his life. He was also a member of Dakota Baptist Church. Gene was an avid coon hunter and a great outdoorsman. He was the youngest of his siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. He served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his son, Richie (Mona) McNair of Ashburn; grandchildren, Gabie (Tate) Whiddon, Brooke McNair, Cody (Savanah) Morris and Gavin Townson; great-grandchildren, Eslee Whiddon, Rhett Whiddon and Jayde Kennedy; nephew, Odie (Brenda) McNair; niece, Penny (Greg) Thompson; great-nephews, Channing McNair and Justin Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Clara Joyce McNair and siblings, W. O. McNair, Harold McNair, Bob McNair, Calvin McNair and Hazel McNair.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, April 14, 2023 at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM Friday, April 14, 2023 at the funeral home.
