Farrell Hayes Flake

Farrell Hayes Flake, 100, of Chula passed away peacefully Monday, July 20, 2026 at her residence.

Farrell was born in Worth County on March 16, 1926 to the late John A. and Mae Thompson Hayes. Farrell was a faithful member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church for many years where she chaired the Hostess Committee. She was known as an accomplished cook and loved to share her delicious food with others. She was a dietician having worked for the Turner County Board of Education. She also catered many special events for the community, including the Chamber of Commerce Banquets, Honors banquets, Chicken ques and many more.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Ron) Coley of Savannah; son, David (Rachel) Flake of Chula; brother, Rivers Hayes of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Will (Jaime) Coley of Bluffton, South Carolina, Claudia (Jay) Crosby of Jacksonville, Florida and Caroline Flake of Chula; great-grandchildren, Robert Elrod, Emily Elrod, Louisa Coley, Willa James Coley and Witt Coley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Flake; siblings, Junior Hayes, Bill Hayes, R. L. Hayes, Ed Hayes and Mae Spencer. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Ashburn First Baptist Church. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Ashburn First Baptist Church.
