Clara Joyce McNair

Clara Joyce McNair, 86, of Ashburn passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele with her family by her side.

Joyce was born in Cordele on April 11, 1936, to the late John and Clara Musslewhite. She retired from Turner County Schools as a lunchroom employee in 2013. She also worked at Hobby’s Department Store for many years. Joyce loved to shop and travel and treated her cats and dogs like family. Joyce was well known for her delicious chocolate chip muffins. Her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren by whom she was affectionately called Mimi. 

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gene McNair of Ashburn; son, Richie (Mona) McNair of Ashburn; grandchildren, Gabie (Tate) Whiddon, Brooke McNair, Cody (Savanah) Morris, and Gavin Townson; great-grandchildren, Eslee Whiddon, Rhett Whiddon, and Jayde Kennedy; and many other extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 3 sisters, Bessie Lee, Louise, and Elise. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. The family will greet friends from  1:00 PM until the hour of services.
