Carl Wesley Payne, Sr.

Carl Wesley Payne, Sr., 86, of Ashburn passed away Friday, May 29, 2026 at his residence.

Wesley was born on November 6, 1939 in Perry, Florida to the late Rev. Clifford Marion and Amelia Jane Nicks Payne. He was self-employed as the owner and operator of Pest Stop. Wesley’s favorite pastime was fishing. Any time he had the opportunity, you could find Wesley in one of his favorite fishing holes. He also loved NASCAR and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Wesley retired to Turner County and loved living there. Above all else, he was a family man and was a great father and grandfather. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by his sons, Carl Wesley, Jr. “Chip” (Bonnie) Payne of Lee County and Douglas James (Lydia) Payne of Cumming; grandchildren, Joshua Michael (Abbagail) Payne of Cumming and Kyle Hamilton Payne of Hialeah, Florida.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Louise Albury Payne; sister, Edith Spradlin; brothers, Arnall “Joe” Payne, Marion Payne and Glenn Payne.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Live Oak Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Live Oak Cemetery immediately following the service.
