Funeral services for Thomas David Kennedy, Sr., 68, of Ashburn will be held Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Kennedy died Tuesday at the Heritage Health care in Ashburn following an extended illness.

Mr. Kennedy was born in Americus, Georgia and was the son of the late Thomas E. Kennedy, Jr. and Gladys Pirkle Kennedy. He was a retired salesman from Syn--Tech Systems. He was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church and Sycamore Masonic Lodge #210 F.&A.M. and the Hasan Temple, Albany, Ga. He enjoyed fishing and auto racing. He was preceded in death by Faye Rainey Kennedy in 2004 and Carolyn Wise Kennedy in 2010.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his daughters Kay K. (Richard) Vogt, Cape Canaveral, Florida, and Sherry K. (Keith) Evans, Vienna, Ga., and his son, Thomas D. (Aimee) Kennedy, Jr., Littleton, Colorado. Also surviving are his sisters, Pat Stamps, Alpharetta, Ga., Beth Boutwell, Helen, Ga., Jan Odom, Cordele, Ga..Cynthia Moon, Tifton, Ga., his brother, Marvin Kennedy, Buckhead, Ga. and his half brother, Scott Kennedy, Pooler, Ga. Also surviving is the mother of his children, Jimmie Slade Hutchinson, Cordele, Ga. and four grandchildren, Rob Cordery, Sabra Cordery, Amelia Vogt, and Sam Evans. Tommy was loved by his step children and his step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from Thursday from 12:30-1:45 P.M. at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church.

Flowers will be accepted, but for those who wish, memorials may be made to the Ashburn First United Methodist Church.
