Hugh E. Metcalf

Funeral services for Hugh E. Metcalf, 90, of Sycamore, Ga. will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Metcalf died Monday at Tift Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Metcalf was born in Turner County, Ga. and was the son of the late Eb Andrew and Georgia Spruill Metcalf. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class and enjoyed fishing and working on his farm. He lived a good but simple life.

Mr. Metcalf is survived by his wife, Effie Jo Scoggins Metcalf, Sycamore, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie & Beverly Metcalf, Sycamore, Ga., Dennie & Linda Metcalf, Ashburn, Ga. Also surviving are his grandchildren Steven (Tiffany) Metcalf, Kristen (Matthew) Nutt, Matthew (Heather) Metcalf, Eric (Krystal) Metcalf and Whitney Metcalf, all of Ashburn, Ga. and his great grandchildren, Macy, Graham, and Hallie Metcalf; Ashley and Christopher Metcalf, all of Ashburn, Ga. and a large number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
