Dora Pate Roberts of Ashburn went to her new home on May 30, 2010. Ms. Dora passed away at Heritage Healthcare in Ashburn after a short illness. Ms. Dora was born in Turner County on June 27, 1917 to Elijah Pate and Simmie Lou Martin Pate. She was married to Mr. William B. “Billy” Roberts, SR. in 1939 and they lived and raised their family in Turner County.

Ms. Dora was preceded in death by her parents and Mr. Billy, who died in 1980. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lindora Roberts Collins; a grandson, Thomas Clay Wideman; a son-in-law, Chess Chapman. Ms. Dora was also preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

Ms. Dora is survived by her children William B. “Bill” (Ruth) Roberts, JR. of Ashburn, Diane (Charles) Wideman of Rebecca, Carol (James) Garrett of Ashburn, Vickie (Jerry) Gunn of Ashburn and her special son-in-law Willis Collins of Rebecca. She is also survived by one sister, Ms. Cortez Ireland.

Also surviving Ms. Dora are her loving grandchildren Ben (Rhonda) Roberts of Ashburn, Dan (April) Roberts of Kathleen, GA, Kerri (Paul) Chalon of Ashburn, Chip Wideman of Rebecca, Chesann (Michael) Thompson of Kathleen, GA, Rhonda (Brian) Browning of Valdosta, GA, Reginna (ChooChoo) Germano of Waycross, GA, Renee Stewart (John Hughes) of Sycamore, Matthew Garrett of Atlanta, GA, Michael (Kristen) Garrett of Ashburn, Beth (Jody) Fletcher of Ashburn, Randall (Stacey) Kendrick of Dallas, GA, Heather (Ben) McWhorter of Rebecca and Anna (Ike) Ellerbee of Ashburn.

Ms. Dora is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren.

Her homecoming celebration will be Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM at The Harmony Baptist Church in Turner County where she was a long time member. Interment will follow in The Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 till 7 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
