Jewel Watson Phillips

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel Watson Phillips, 90, of Ashburn, GA. will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips passed away Monday at Tift Health Care following extended illness.

A native of Worth Co., GA., she was the daughter of the late Slaughter and Amzie Covington Watson and had resided in Ashburn since 1937. She was a member of the Amboy Baptist Church and a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 454, Sylvester, GA. Along with her husband, M. Eldon Phillips, she was the retired co-owner and operator Phillips Department Store in Ashburn. Mr. Phillips preceded her in death in 1996.

Survivors include her sister Clarice W. Scott of Ashburn, GA and a large number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel.
