Bernice Bailey Dantley, 74, of Abbeville passed away Monday, March 28, 2022 at Cordele Health and Rehabilitation.
Bernice was born on August 18, 1947 in Pitts to the late Willie and Carrie Coley Bailey. She was a retired paraprofessional having worked at the Wilcox County Elementary School. Bernice was a faithful member of Pine City Missionary Baptist Church where she was an usher. She loved to bake. She prided herself in keeping a spotless house. She is fondly remembered for always watching the Golden Girls any chance she got. She also graduated from Excelsior High School in Rochelle.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence (Jenny) Dantley of McDonough; sister, Redith (Tony) Cross of Rebecca; brother, Joe C. (Barbara) Bailey of Abbeville; granddaughters, Sierra Dantley of Sylvester, Jennifer Wallace of Augusta and Jacquette Wallace of August; step-son, Scott Dantley; aunt, Pauline Troutman of Rochelle; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leroy (Ruby) Dantley of Rochelle, and Ruby Nell Samuels of Milledgeville; sister-in-law, Pearlie Bailey (Moses) West of Fitzgerald. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and a very special niece-in-law, Regina Morgan of Gray.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dantley; a daughter, Gwen Dantley; son, Clarence Dantley, Jr.; brothers, Otis Bailey and Larry Bailey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Pine City Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of services at the church.
