Barbara Ann Garrett Nelson, of Kennesaw, passed away peacefully March 23, 2022 at the age of 81.
Barbara was born and raised in Sycamore, Georgia where she played varsity basketball and graduated from Turner County High School in 1958. The Marietta area has been her home for the past 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William C. & Annie Bell Garrett and infant son Rex Alan Nelson. She is survived by her children, Tim Nelson (Lisa) , Andrea Hall (Ashley) and Walt Nelson (Nancy); sisters, Jeanette Wilson of Phenix City, AL, Gwendolyn Crain of Columbus, GA, and Gayle Spradlin of Grand Island, FL; brothers, Donald Garrett of Dothan, AL, Lamar Garrett (Mildred) of Ringgold, GA, and James Garrett (Carol) of Ashburn; seven grand children, Barrett Hall, Malarie Young (Zach), Stewart Nelson, Evann Nelson, MaryGrace Nelson, Abby Nelson, Lauren Nelson; and three great-granddaughters, Braeleigh Hall, Paisley Young and Hartleigh Young.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 2, 2022 at 4:00p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 2245 Bethel Road, Sycamore, GA 31790. The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm., prior to the service. Arrangements are being handled by Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, GA 31714
