Nell Handley, 69, of Ashburn passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Nell was born on October 18, 1952 in Ashburn to the late John Terrell and Eula Othel Howell Ward. She was a seamstress and a homemaker. Nell enjoyed going to yard sales, shopping, watching movies and fishing. She also enjoyed canning various types of vegetables and jellies and sewing for people. Nell enjoyed spending time with her family but especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Ryan) Rouse of Arabi, Melissa (Calvin) Mitchell of Ashburn and Angela (Matthew) Watts of Ashburn; sons, Timothy (Lori) Handley of Ashburn and Scotty Tripp of Ashburn; sisters, Teresa Ward of Ashburn, Melba (Mack) Brown of Ashburn and Tena Tanner of Ashburn; brother, Terry (Donna) Ward of Somerville, Texas. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Tripp; second husband, Donnie Handley; siblings, Zelda Fender, Sue Tripp, Patsy Brooks, Richard Ward, Jerry Ward and Mary Craft.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 6, 2022 at New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel.
