John David Nelson, 75, of Ashburn passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at his residence.
John David was born in Tifton on October 30, 1946 to the late John R. and Virginia D. Hornsby Nelson. He was an Agricultural Technician and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. John David was a hard worker who loved classic cars. He was a graduate of Turner County High School and was proud to have played football during his high school years. He also served his country with honor in the United State Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Shiver Nelson of Ashburn; sons, Richard Jacob Nelson of Ashburn and John David Nelson, Jr. of Ashburn; brothers, Larry Edward Nelson of Jacksonville, Florida and Jerry Thomas Nelson of Texas; sister, Ginger Horton of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Shelby Grace Nelson and John David "Trey" Nelson, III. He is also survived by his best friend, Fred Breeden and his aunt who raised him, Betty Young Nelson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sibling, Steve Nelson.
Due to the threat of inclement weather, the funeral service for John David Nelson has been moved. It will now be held at Perry Funeral Chapel at 3:00 PM today, November 5, 2021. Interment will be private.
