Drake Walker

Funeral services for Drake Walker, age 11, of Sycamore will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton. Master Walker died Saturday from injuries sustained in a weather related accident.

Drake was born in Tift County and had resided in Turner County all of his life. He was the son of Rachel Byrd Walker of Sycamore and Jason Walker of Ashburn. He was a student at the J. T. Reddick Elementary School in Tifton where he was in the sixth grade. He actively attended Bethel Baptist Church. He played baseball at the Turner County Recreation Department and was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member of the Royal Ambassadors at Bethel Baptist Church and loved to race derby cars with the R. A.’s.

Survivors include his mother, Rachel Byrd Walker, Sycamore, Ga.; his father, Jason Walker, Ashburn, Ga. He is also survived by one brother, Barrie Byrd, Sycamore, Ga. and one sister, Rayana Walker of Sycamore, Ga. Also surviving are his Maternal Grandparents, Jimmy & Carol Byrd, Sycamore, Ga. Paternal Grandparents, Gail & Wayne Baxter, Ashburn, Ga.; Mike and Janey Walker, Ashburn, Ga.; Maternal Great Grandparents, R.B. & Ellen Pitts, Swainsboro, Ga.; Paternal Great Grandparents, B.E. & Margaret Walker, Ashburn, Ga. Paternal Great Grandparents, B.G. & Josephine Rogers, Glennville, Ga. Drake is also survived by aunts & uncles, Mica & Bert Gorday, Rebecca, Ga., Jim Byrd, Sycamore, Ga., Benjie & Erica Walker, Honolulu, Hawaii, and several great aunts & uncles.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
