Walter Eugene “Gene” Crenshaw, 93, of Ashburn, formerly of Gastonia, NC, passed away on Sunday, August 29th, 2021 at Tift Regional Hospital in Tifton.
Gene was born September 16, 1927 in Gastonia, NC to the late Joseph Samuel Crenshaw and the late Grace Eveline Morris. He moved to Ashburn from Gastonia, NC in 2008. Gene was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was ordained as a deacon in Gastonia, NC. He was a retired sheet metal worker at Lanier-Williamson Sheet Metal. Gene loved all sports but baseball was his favorite. He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Eugenia “Genia” (David) Alberson of Ashburn; and sister, Clara Moore of Gastonia, NC.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Juanita Trull Crenshaw, and siblings Ernest Crenshaw and Frances Kester.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Perry Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
A face covering is recommended for everyone in attendance.
