Joan Elaine (Schooler) Hedges, 72, of Ashburn passed away on December 4, 2020 at her home peacefully surrounded by family following a lengthy and brave battle with cancer.
Joan was born on November 24, 1948 to the late Jack Harold Schooler and Ila Mae Schooler in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was an avid gardener, gourmet cook, florist, and homemaker. She was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. She worked for Mager Mortgage Company, Amoco Corporation, and Jet Blue.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jim Hedges of Ashburn, GA.; sons Brian (Athena) Hedges of Redlands, CA; and son Joe Hedges of Ashburn, GA. Grandsons Niles Hedges of Indian Rock Beach, FL.; Collin Hedges of Columbia, SC.; Ryker Hedges of Redlands, CA. and Brayden Crowder, of Columbia, SC. Granddaughters Brooklyn Shed of Redlands, CA. and Abrielle James of Redlands, CA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jonathan Harold Schooler.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. For those who wish to sign the family's guest register and pay their respects, you may do so on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
