Mr. Durel Nelson, 83, of Kennesaw, GA passed away following a brief illness on Friday, April 24, 2020 in Marietta, GA.
The son of the late Walter C. and Eunie Frances Mauldin Nelson, he was born in Sycamore, GA. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Baptist Faith and served his country in the United States Army. He was retired from Owens Illinois Glass Co.
Mr. Durel was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He was a man with no enemies and loved everyone.
Survivors include his children, Tim (Lisa) Nelson of Dallas, GA; Walt (Nancy) Nelson of Helen, GA; Chuck (Sandy) Tanner of McDonough, GA and Andrea (Ashley) Hall of Powder Springs, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stu Nelson, Evann Nelson, Barrett Hall, Malarie Young, Mary Grace Nelson, Abby Nelson, Lauren Nelson, Haley Mace, Taylor Tanner, Evan Tanner and Josh Tanner; his great grandchildren, Braeleigh Hall, Paisley Young, Hartleigh Young and Miles Mace. Also surviving is his sister, Faye Gilley of Sycamore, GA and his brother Quinton (Vivian) Nelson of Denison, TX.
Due to the State of Emergency we are now facing, Private graveside services will be held, in The Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. A Celebration Of his Life Memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.
