Leon "Roger" Shivers, fondly called "Tater" by his friends died October 5, 2019 at Pruitt Healthcare facilities from a short illness. Born December 8, 1933 and died October 5, 2019, he was preceded in death by his beloved Peggy on February 5, 2019. He is survived by his eldest daughter, Sonjia Shivers (Butch) Barker and his youngest daughter, Samantha Lynne Shivers. Roger was in the United States navy for 20 years, worked at Firestone Tire Company in Albany for 20 years and the Marine Corps Logistics base for 13 years before retiring. Roger lived life to the fullest, made a wonderful home for his wife and 2 girls and enjoyed hunting and fishing until his vision started failing and it got too hot. He and a small group of friends gathered together on Mondays and Thursdays but if you called, he'd go. Roger will be missed by many and forever be in our hearts.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Hamilton and Ida Covington Shivers and his siblings, Barney Shivers, Tina Shivers, Mattie Lucy Shivers, Myrtle Nolen, Roy Shivers and Charles Belton Shivers.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM graveside at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rebecca.
