Dorsey Lumpkin, 77, of Ashburn passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Dorsey was born in Worth County on May 1, 1942 to the late J. D. and Margaret Elizabeth Stewart Lumpkin. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was also a retired Routeman for Pet Dairies and Parmalot Dairies and was presently working for Calhoun Produce and Parker Chevrolet as a driver. Dorsey enjoyed watching westerns and loved anything to do with Abraham Lincoln. He was a family man who adored his wife and loved his pet dog, Josie. Dorsey served his country with honor in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy James Lumpkin of Ashburn; son, Stacy Lumpkin of Lenox daughters, Noelle Strickland of Johns Creek and Jennifer Strickland of Watkinsville; brother, Larry (Sharon) Lumpkin of Marietta; sister, Marguerite (Buddy) Lewis of Cordele; sister-in-law, Donna Lumpkin of Ashburn; son-in-law, Brian Gregory of Watkinsville; grandchildren, Daniel Ferreira, Sofia Ferreira, Erin Gregory and James Gregory. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Lumpkin.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Fireant Festival, in care of the Turner County Chamber of Commerce, 238 East College Avenue, Ashburn, Georgia or the Go Fund Me account that has been established to help restore The World's Largest Peanut that was damaged from Hurricane Michael.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Harmony Baptist Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Harmony Baptist Church.
