Benjamin “Ben” David Rainey, age 53, died October 28th at Tift Regional Hospital.
Ben graduated from Turner County High School in 1983 where he played baseball and was active in many activities especially 4-H. After graduation, he attended the University of Georgia receiving a Bachelor of Arts and Science with a Major in Psychology. Ben was associated with Loco’s Deli and Pub, Inc. from the beginning of its establishment in 1988 until he retired in 2015. Ben loved family, friends and all sports especially UGA football and basketball, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and Liverpool Soccer. He shared the love of soccer with his son, Liam, football with his nephew, Sam, and golf with his niece, Adi.
He is survived by his son Liam Rainey of Jacksonville, Florida, Mother, Pat Rainey of Ashburn, Ga. and his sister, Mary Parker, brother in law, Jeff Parker, nephew, Sam Parker, and niece, Adi Parker of St. Simons Island, Ga. He was preceded in death by his father, David Charles Rainey.
The family will receive visitors at their home at 536 Grand Street, Friday evening November 2 and at Amboy Baptist church at noon Saturday November 3rd. Services will be held at 1pm at Amboy Baptist Church followed by internment at Rainey Family Cemetery.
Donations will be used for care of the Rainey Family Cemetery.
All friends and family are invited to 536 Grand Street for Food, Fellowship, and Football following the ceremony.
