John "Johnny" L. Wilson, Jr., 60, of Sycamore passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at his residence after an extended illness surrounded by his immediate family.
He was born on July 23, 1957 to the late John L. Sr. and Jessie Louise Little Wilson. John served his country with honor in the United States Army. He retired from the Tift County Road Department as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, James Lanier (Megan) Wilson of Russellville, AL.; daughters, Jessica Amanda (Hank Hayes) Wilson of Lenox and Lisa Marie Wilson of Tifton; sister, Maryln W. Nelson of Sycamore; grandchildren, Paula Hayes, Sarah Hayes, Jake Duckworth, Katie Duckworth and Kaylee Wilson. He was also anticipating the birth of another granddaughter, Braelyn Wilson, in December.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Sue Garner Wilson and a brother, Jimmy Lanier Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, October 20, 2017 at the funeral home.
