Funeral services for Ernestine Hudgins Rhodes, 88, of Sycamore, GA will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Mrs. Rhodes entered into Heaven Saturday following an extended illness. Interment will be private at Bethel Cemetery in Turner County, GA.
The daughter of the late Ernest E. and Lula Hallman Hudgins, she was born in Turner County. She was the widow of O. H. “Fess” Rhodes and was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church. Mrs. Rhodes was a retired teacher from the Turner County School System where she touched many lives not only in the school system but as a private tutor and advisor for many students. Her favorite pastimes were listening to classical music and the arts. She was a member of the State and National Educational Organizations and was a devoted, wife, mother and friend.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Jim and Susan Rhodes of Albany, GA. and a granddaughter, Rebecca (Daniel) Dutton and a great granddaughter, Kaylee Susannah all of Valdosta, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Dene (Jim) White and her nieces, Jennnifer (Peter) Smollett and Cindy Vogel and a nephew David White all of Scituate, MA.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
