Funeral services for Dorothy Dianne Cravey Bacon, 66, of Ashburn, GA will be held at 2:30 P.M., Monday, April 17, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Ashburn. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Turner County. Mrs. Bacon passed away peacefully Friday, April 14, 2017 at her home due to a sudden illness.
The daughter of the late Charles Jackson and Helen Sanders Cravey, Dianne was born in Turner County. She was a 3rd Grade teacher at Tiftarea Academy, having retired from the Tift County Board of Education last year. She was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church of Ashburn.
Dianne was a kind, selfless and compassionate soul who was dearly loved by everyone that knew her. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Ed, and a loving mother and best friend to her daughter, Helen. Dianne was a skilled equestrian and cook, making arguably the best red velvet cake in the state, if not the country. She had also risen in the ranks as the world’s best grandmother, or “Didi”, to her eagerly anticipated grandson, Sanders, who will be named in honor of Dianne’s mother. There is no way to know the number of students that Dianne impacted and mentored during her long-standing tenure in elementary education, but she was a devoted teacher who never tired of her love for children and education. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Ed Bacon of Ashburn, GA., her daughter Helen Bacon (Clay) Hester of Savannah, GA. and her soon-to-be grandson, scheduled to arrive in August.
The family will receive friends and family, Monday, April 17, 2017 in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church of Ashburn from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of services, which will follow in the sanctuary
While flowers will be accepted, those who wish may make donations to the First Baptist Church of Ashburn, 302 McLendon St., Ashburn, GA, 31714.
