Doris Williams

Graveside funeral services for Doris Mimms Williams, age 82, 40 Acme St., Jacksonville, Fla. will be held Thursday, August 25, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mrs. Williams died Monday at Southwood Nursing Center in Jacksonville following an extended illness.

Mrs. Williams was born in Hazelhurst, Ga. and was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Maude Stone Mims. She was the widow of Samuel Jackson Williams, Jr. who died in 1990. She was a homemaker and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WW II. She was of the Baptist faith and was a long time resident of Cordele before moving to Jacksonville five years ago.

Survivors include two sons Samuel Jackson Williams, III, Forsyth, Ga. and Wesley Vincent Williams, Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Daniel Mims, Hazelhurst, Ga.; two sisters, Maurece Stein, Acworth, Ga. and Mary Edna Pyles, Savannah, Ga.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. Thrusday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.
