Wallace Beard, 87, of Sycamore, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Tift Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born on November 24, 1928 to the late Edward Henry and Ena Belle Hasty Beard, he was a retired farmer. Mr. Beard was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served on the cemetery committee for many years. He was Deacon Emeritus and was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Beard also served as the secretary for The Turner Baptist Association. Mr. Wallace and his wife, Mrs. Dot were foster parents for many years. The Beards were also awarded the Farm Family of the Year Award from the Turner County Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his niece, Carla (Jr.) Bellflower of Sycamore; nephew, Troy (Glenda) Williams of Sycamore; cousins, Royce Donahoo, Zollie Donahoo Pavlina, Earlene Hicks, Marie Sellars and Judy Rogers; a sister, Maurine B. Williams of Sycamore and many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 26, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of services at the church.
