Janet Hobby Cooper, 84, passed away on August 11, 2016, surrounded by her family. Funeral services are scheduled at Harmony Baptist Church, Ashburn, GA, on August 13, 2016, with Rev. Jerry Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 AM-11:30 AM prior to the service at Harmony.

Mrs. Cooper was born in Turner County, GA to the late Morris Andrew and Lillie McGlamery Hobby. Mrs. Cooper loved to play the piano and sing. As a young adult she attended church functions in the Turner County Community with her father, playing the piano while her Father led the singing. Mrs. Cooper was very active in church activities at her various church homes including Harmony Baptist Church in Ashburn, GA, Britt David Baptist Church in Columbus, GA, First Baptist Church in Rincon, GA and Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany, GA, where she sang in the choir and played the piano at area nursing homes. Mrs. Cooper came from a large family and loved time with her immediate and extended family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Clifford (Buddy) Cooper and eight siblings.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Brenda and Ken Owens of Fortson, GA, Jacqueline and Alan Atkinson of Conyers, GA, Kim and Jim Ward of Ashburn, GA and Johnny and Bruce Cooper of Freemont, CA. Her grandchildren and their spouses Jennifer and Rick Monahan of Williamsburg, VA, Brooke and Kevin Lucas, Flowery Branch, GA, Lisa Christian of Flowery Branch, GA, Dustin and Kayla Ward of Ashburn, GA, Dillon and Kimberly Ward of Ashburn, GA; her great grandchildren, Christopher Monahan and Allison Monahan of Williamsburg, VA, Emmalyn Lucas, Kailyn Lucas and Daxton Christian all of Flowery Branch, GA. She is also survived by her sisters Sara Parker of Columbus, GA and Louise Cox of Raleigh, NC and a brother Joseph Elmer Hobby of Savannah, GA.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Gardens at Calvary.
