James Alton Owens

Funeral Services for James Alton Owens, 88, of Ashburn, GA will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2016 at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn, GA. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Owens passed away Saturday, February 13 , 2016 after a brief illness.

The son of the late James Anderson Owens and Lillian Martha Pope Owens, he was born in Haralson County, GA on March 19, 1927. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jo Stanford Owens. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church in Sycamore, GA. Mr. Owens was a veteran serving in WWII in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his daughter Debbie (Mike) Lunsford of Wetumpka, AL; three grandchildren Shanna Lunsford, Orlando, FL; Kristen (Aaron) Oehlschlaeger of Plano, TX and Brady Lunsford of Florence, AL. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-granddaughter, Arabella.

The family will receive friends Monday at Perry Funeral Chapel from 1:00 - 2:15.
