Funeral services for Gary “Pete” McNair, 72, of Americus, GA will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Mr. McNair passed away Wednesday in Albany, GA. Interment will be held in the Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, GA.

The son of the late Bobby Lee McNair and Edna Merle Roberts Mallard he was born in Cordele, GA and was retired from the United States Army, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Three Oak Clusters, Two Overseas Service Bars, Bronze Star Metal, Vietnam Service Medal with Four Bronze Service Stars, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Expert Qualification Badge, Army Service Ribbon and Meritorious Service Medal. He was a member of V.F.W. in Cordele, GA and Moose Lodge in Americus, GA.

Mr. McNair was raised in Turner County had lived in Americus for the last twenty years where he enjoyed fishing and his yard work.

Survivors include his sisters, Martha Sue M. Taylor, Marysville, TN and Barbara Ann Matthews, Jacksonville, FL; his brothers, Tommy McNair and Mike McNair both of Warwick, GA. Also surviving is a large number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
