Graveside Funeral Services for James Rice “Jimmie” Brown, Jr. age 86 of 644 Purcell Road, Sycamore will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 9, 2004, at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Brown died Tuesday at his residence after a long illness.

Mr. Brown was a native and lifelong resident of Turner County, Georgia, the son of the late James Rice & Pocahontas Garrison Brown. He was member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church, Sycamore Lodge # 210 F. & A. M. and The American Legion.He was a veteran of World War Two serving in the U. S. Navy. He served on The U. S. S. Vicksburg in the Pacific Theater and was in the Okinawa and Iwojima campaigns. He was a retired Agri-Business operator.

He is survived by his wife Mary Doster H. Brown of Sycamore, son James R. Brown III of Sycamore, daughter Mary Brown, Decatur, Ga., his sister Jane B. Evans, Belle Glade, Florida his grandchildren Greer Brown, St. Simons Island, Ga. and Kate Brown of Arcadia, Calif. and Marianne Brown, Sycamore, Ga.

He was preceeded in death by a sister Mary Brown Armstrong of Atlanta, Ga.Visitation will be Wednesday evening Seven until Eight-thirty at the funeral home.
