Versie M. Pate

Funeral Services for Versie M. Pate, age 87, of Ashburn will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Oklahoma Cemetery in Wilcox Co., GA. Mrs. Pate died Tuesday August 13, 2013 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Pate was a member of the Haw Pond Baptist Church and was well known for her study of geology and enjoyed acting and entertaining friends and family. She was the daughter of the late James L. and Mittie Elvie Johnson Martin and was the widow of the late John H. Pate who died in 1990.

Survivors include her daughters Joyce (Gerald) Calhoun, Johnette McDuffie, and Jeanell (Rev. Carlton) Webb, all of Ashburn and her grandchildren Brad (Kerri) Calhoun, Sheila (Mike) Rice, John McDuffie, Lynn (Stacy) Carter, Jeff (Dana) McDuffie, Janna (Brandon) Adams, Tom (Anne) McDuffie and Seven Great-Grandchildren and One Great-Great-Grandchild and her devoted and constant companion her dog Pepper.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from Six until Eight Wednesday evening at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, Ga.
