Funeral services for James Howell McCorvey, 90, of Ashburn will be held Wednesday, June 26. 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. McCorvey died Sunday in Augusta, GA following an extended illness.

Mr. McCorvey was born in Arabi, GA and was the son of the late Warren Jackson Daniel and Maggie Belle White McCorvey. He was the former owner and operator of Sylvester Farm Equipment and McCorvey Realty. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church and was a former member of the Finance Committee and Trustee at the First Baptist Church. He was a long time member of the Sylvester First Baptist Church. He attended ABAC and loved playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary John Davis McCorvey. He had been a resident of Georgia War Veterans Home in Augusta since April 2013. The family would like to thank them for their professional and compassionate care.

Mr. McCorvey is survived by his daughters and sons in law: Miriam & Bill Harris, Waxhaw, N. C. and Mary Donna & Henry DeWitt Beman, III, Augusta, GA. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Henry DeWitt (Susan) Beman, IV, Augusta, GA, Davis Howell (Elizabeth) Beman, Augusta, GA, and Hollis McCorvey Harris, Alpharetta, GA; Great Grandchildren: Davis Howell Beman, Jr., Joseph McKnight Beman, Henry Dewitt Beman, V, John Brayson Beman and Knox Hampton Beman; his brother and sister, Reginald McCorvey, Anderson City, GA and Lautrice Barry, Tifton, GA.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday from 12:30-1:30 P.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church.

Flowers will be accepted. However, for those who wish, you may make donations to the Ashburn First Baptist Church, 302 McLendon St., Ashburn, GA 31714; or the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, % Sherry Thompson, 3011 Hill Rd., Ashburn, GA 31714 or your favorite charity.
