Sam Bates

Funeral Services for Sam Bates age 84 of Sycamore will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 A. M. in the Sycamore Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mr. Bates died Monday April 22, 2013 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bates was a lifelong resident of Sycamore the son of the late Mark W. and Clara Mae Kennedy Bates. He was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church and was a retired automotive salesman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn N. Bates in 2004.

Survivors include his son Terry Bates, Sycamore, and daughter & son-in-law Vicki B. & Doug Barbee, Ashburn, his sister & brother-in-law Mary Sue & Eddie Ireland, Ashburn, his grandsons Barry & Jayme Barbee, Ashburn, Brad & Liz Barbee, Sycamore and Benjie & Tonya Barbee, Ashburn and nine great-grandchildren Lily, Courtlyn, Laci, Sam, Laurie, Wren & Andrew Barbee and Joey Behrend.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from Five until Seven at Perry Funeral Chapel, 301 McLendon St., Ashburn, Ga.
