Funeral services for William G. “Bill” Hardin, Jr., 84, of Ashburn, GA will be held Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mr. Hardin died Saturday at Tift Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Mr. Hardin was born in Irwin County, GA and had lived in Ashburn since 1951. He was the son of the late William G. and Hazel Rish Hardin, Sr. He was a former teacher, basketball coach, Principal of Turner County High School and retired as Superintendent of Turner County School System after 39 years. In 1979, he was named Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, serving as Chairman for many years. He was a Sunday School Teacher of the Bill Hardin Sunday School Class. He served as church moderator and served on the Turner County Library Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and working in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Doris W. Hardin, Ashburn, GA, his son and daughter-in- law, Vic & Tame Hardin, Bangs, TX.; his daughter and son-in-law, Cecelia H. & Jim Costley, Conyers, GA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Rett Blanton, Conyers, Mitch Costley, Atlanta, GA and Victoria Hardin, Bangs, TX.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00-2:30 P.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church.

Flowers will be accepted, however, for those who wish in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ashburn First Baptist Church.
