William F. "Bill" Gamaras

Graveside funeral services for William “Bill” Gamaras, 81, of Gastonia, N.C. will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mr. Gamaras died Thursday in Gastonia, N.C. after a brief illness.

Mr. Gamaras was born in Ashburn, the son of the late Arthur J. and Lillian Raney Gamaras, Sr. He was a retired Comptroller with Armour Meat Company and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Britt Gamaras and his brother, Arthur “Porky” Gamaras, Jr.

Mr. Gamaras is survived by his son, Stephen A. (Tonya) Gamaras, Cramerton, N.C., three grandchildren, Blair Gamaras, Brittney Able, and Christian Gamaras, and one sister, Pat (Hans) Hanson, Jasper, GA.

The family will receive friends, Sunday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
