Funeral services for Frances Childs Ellis, 93, of Ashburn will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn, Ga. Mrs. Ellis died Saturday at the Heritage Health Care following an extended illness.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Cordele, Ga., the daughter of the late Hoyt B. and Mary E. Carmichael Childs. She was the former owner and operator of Ellis Farm Equipment and The Oak Tree in Ashburn. She was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the Methodist Women, and the Church Council. She was an active member of the Turner County Arts Council; a former member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, and a former member of the Board of Community National Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton E. Ellis and one granddaughter, Kim Ellis.
She is survived by her children: Richard Ellis & his wife, Sandra, Ashburn; William D. “Bill” Ellis and his wife, Phyllis, Cordele and Gloria E. Pylant, Ashburn. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
